The SJIT Graduate School has been in operation for more than 2 decades from its foundation in 1989. It offers three programs with Government Recognition: 1989 Masters in Management for Master of Arts in Education (MAED) and Master in Management (MM) Major in Business Management (MBM) and Public Service Management (MPSM). In 1997, its Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) was recognized and in 2002, Doctor of Philosophy in Management was recognized. In 2010 - 2011, the SJIT Graduate School was granted authority by the CHED to operate its Non - Thesis Program for Teachers.
Over the quite long years, the number of degree programs offered by College of Business and Information Technology has grown considerably, giving college leavers a wide choice of courses that meet their interest and passion. Today, College of Business and Information Technology proudly offered five-degree programs and two associate programs with its own field of specializations.
Saint Joseph Institute of Technology started offering engineering programs on 1981 with Civil and Mechanical Engineering. With the increase in number of engineering students and the demand of other engineering discipline, Electrical Engineering and Architecture was then offered on 1983. Four years after, Electronics & Communication Engineering (now Electronics Engineering) and Computer Engineering was then offered to complete the current six programs of the College of Engineering and Architecture.
The College of Education Arts and Sciences (CEAS) is the heart of the institute, Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT). It is the service college of the Institution. It serves all five other colleges in the Institute through its Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Humanities and Language course offerings. Manned by highly qualified faculty members, CEAS is the largest in terms of number of faculty and the most dynamic college in the Institution. Its faculty and students are very much inclined into arts and culture, vigorous in research and active community extension services.
SJIT, College of Criminology is the pioneer of Criminology Education in Caraga Region and the leading provider and molder of law enforcement practitioner in the region. The College of Criminology has a complete state of the arts facilities and equipment. The college was granted a preliminary accreditation in August 2006, granted level 1 status in October 2009 and in February 2014 was granted of level 2 accreditation status by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities-Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) making the BS Criminology program of SJIT the first and the only Level 2 accredited Criminology Program in Caraga Region.
With the offering of the two maritime courses, the Maritime Education Department was then installed which later on became College of Maritime Transportation now Maritime Academy. Offering of the maritime course has contributed to the economic impact not only in Butuan City but in the whole Caraga region. Over the years, the enrolment has shown a significant growth in view of the persisting demand in the maritime industry.
